Barbara Jean Terrell

NOVEMBER 3, 1933 – SEPTEMBER 25, 2022

Barbara Jean Terrell, 88 passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. She was born November 3, 1933 in Terre Haute.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane Lee Terrell; daughter Debra Seitzinger; her parents Hugh Cunningham and Lea (Faulkner); and brother, Ronnie Cunningham. She is survived by daughter, Pamela Purdy; two sons, Douglas and Shawn Terrell; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Barbara is a former past queen of Badoura Temple No. 23 Daughters of the Nile in Terre Haute and through her husband was very active in the Zorah Shrine. She was proud to serve in the Women’s Department Club and other professional and social organizations. Barb was key to the formation and growth of her husband’s CPA firm where she worked as the data processing manager. Her career path was to be in nursing, but had to make a tough choice of living separately from her newlywed husband while attending nursing school or to be with her spouse. Barbara chose family over career, and pursued other professional interests. Mrs. Terrell counted herself fortunate to enjoy traveling, making Nashville, Orlando, Marble Head, and Branson among her favorite stops, along with her many travels on behalf of the Daughters of the Nile Imperial Sessions, other official functions and visitations to temples across the country. Her bright smile and winning personality made her quick to make friends and foster lasting relationships; and will be missed by all.

The family wishes to pay tribute to the staff of Sycamore Manor, Villas of Hollybrook and Harrison’s Crossing, where she made many friends and received excellent care. Her last days were made better by the attentive care she received through the nursing staff of Union Hospital Intensive Care and the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of the Wabash Valley.

In remembrance, friends and family are invited to plant yellow rose bushes this spring as a symbol of the love of friends and family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 8th Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47804.

Graveside services will be held in The Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Park on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at 11am.
