Jack Long

Jack Robert Long, 73, of Clay City, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Cobblestone Crossings in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born in Brazil, Indiana on April 9, 1949, the son of George and Ruth Colenbaugh Long. Jack was a graduate of Clay City High School, the class of 1967.

After high school, he served with the 181st Air National Guard at Hulman Field. He also attended the short course in agriculture at Purdue University.

He married Belinda Fulk on October 11, 1969. Together they raised their children on the family farm. He worked along side his dad, brother and son and was committed through the years to the success of the farm operation.

Jack was a member of First United Church of Christ, the White River Valley Antique Association and the Clay City-Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department. Because of his love of tractor pulling and antique tractors, he spent many hours helping at the Clay City Fair pull strip.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Long, his in-laws, Johnny and Gilma Gene Fulk and his brother, Richard Long.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Belinda Long and his daughter, Jenny Hutchinson and her husband Randy of Noblesville, Indiana, his son, Brad Long and his wife Angela of Clay City, Indiana and his grandchildren, Ethan and Zach Hutchinson and Brady and Georgia Long. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Darenda and Willis Dyer and Cathy and John Sutton, his nieces and nephews, Alissa Roberts, Amanda Roberts, Andrew Dyer, Scott Long, Greg Long and their families.

A visitation will be held Monday, October 17th from 4-8 P.M. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East 8th Street in Clay City. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 18th at First United Church of Christ, 6414 South County Road 300 East, Clay City, Indiana 47841.
