Robert Wentz Gilley

APRIL 14, 1940 – NOVEMBER 12, 2022

Robert Wentz Gilley, 82, of Greencastle passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at his residence.

Robert was born on April 14, 1940, the son of Wentz and Ora (Glass) Gilley, and was a 1959 graduate of Bainbridge High School.

Mr. Gilley worked for 35 years at IBM in Data Input, until they closed in 1987. He liked to fish, and enjoyed catching up with friends.

Survivors include his two children, David Gilley, (wife-Myrona), Fillmore, and Kim Betz, (husband-Leonard), Dale; four grandchildren, Erin Gilley, Roachdale, Emily Gilley, Fillmore, Dr. Morgan Betz, Evansville, and Nicholas Betz, (wife-Mallori), Dale; two great-grandchildren, Maeve Betz, and Mila Betz; a special grand-niece Dawn Lord; several nieces and nephews; and his two dogs Bella and Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Janice Kay Gilley; three brothers; and a sister.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Champion officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service.
