Mary Ellen Hutson

Mary Ellen Hutson, 86, of Marshall passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. Mary was born Jan. 20, 1936, at Waveland, to Herbert J. and Frances (Bantz) Miller.

She was a 1954 graduate of Waveland High School. On Sept. 1, 1957, at Waveland, Mary married Charles William Hutson. They shared 50 years of marriage until his passing on Dec. 17, 2007.

Mary enjoyed square dancing, baking, sewing, basket weaving, traveling with her husband Charles to art fairs and gardening. She was an active member of the Parke County Home EC Clubs. Mary was also a 4-H leader for many years. Mary loved being a farm wife and homemaker and enjoyed hosting family reunions.

Survivors include: two sons, Paul (Jutta) Hutson of Crawfordsville and Daryl (LeeAnn) Hutson of Crawfordsville; two grandchildren, Eric (Esra) Aksu and Trent Hutson; great-grandchild Ayla; and brother Herbert J. Miller of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles; grandson Greg; two sisters, Dorene and Betty Jane; and brother Dale.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, with Pastor Darla Goodrich officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Lutheran Cemetery in Wallace. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 at the funeral home.
