Wynne Averill
April 19, 1940 - November 19, 2022
Wynne Roger Averill, 82 of Centerpoint, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away November 19, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 19, 1940, in Pahokee, FL, the son of Wynne Reese Averill and Rena Bow Averill. He graduated from Hialeaha High School, Class of 1959. He worked many years at the Indianapolis Star as a mailer. He also worked as a shop steward for the Teamsters Union.
Wynne enjoyed playing pool, and softball when he was younger. He liked to spend his time watching all sports and was a devoted Bobby Knight, IU basketball fan. Most importantly, he loved having his family around to enjoy meals together and golf cart rides around Dietz Lake property.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen Cordeiro Averill, whom he married May 17, 1959; Kenneth Averill, Lori Roberts (Kevin), Kim Buell (Billy), Tomas Averill (Anita); grandchildren, Eddie Hobbs (Cari), Jennifer Abner, Michael Abner (Amelia), Kandice Henry, Megan Buell, Alexandria Edington, Tori Edington, Kaylee Buell; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Madison, Nick, Emily, Jayla, Dean, Aleisha, Brynleigh, Asher, Alexis and Samuel; one brother Thomas Averill (Arlene), one sister Carrie Wilhite (Randall); and other extended family.
Services will be held on December 3, 2022, at 3:00pm at Lawson-Miller Chapel. Burial will follow at Centerpoint Cemetery. Visitation will be December 3, from 1-3:00 pm.
