Rosemary Stephens, 86, of Bowling Green, Indiana passed away at Union Hospital, in Terre Haute, Indiana May 12, 2023.

 

She was born on September 16, 1936, in Clay City, Indiana, the daughter of Jennings and Betty (Leohr) Fritz.

 

Rosemary was a proud graduate of Clay City High School with the class of 1954. She continued to enjoy getting together with her classmates. She married Gerald “Jerry” Stephens on August 30, 1958. He passed away in 2018 after nearly 60 years of marriage.

 

Throughout her life Rosemary was a gifted pianist. She played piano in church for many years. She used her musical talents to glorify the Lord. She was a quilter and was a member of the Calico Quilters. She also enjoyed gardening and sharing the bounty with her neighbors and family.

 

She was a dedicated member of The Friendly Open Bible Community Church. She stressed to her family that there was no excuse to miss church. She was often there each time the church doors were open. She attended and helped with Vacation Bible School, Friendly Circle Ladies Group, preparing Bibles for Seedline International and many other events.

 

In addition to her many interests, Rosemary was a devoted friend, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her neighbors and felt she lived in the best neighborhood in the world. Her caring nature and steadfast support were an unwavering source of comfort and inspiration to those who were blessed to know her.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Jennings and Betty Fritz; her husband Gerald “Jerry” Stephens; and her brothers: Melvin Fritz and Donald Fritz.

She is survived by her children: Kathleen (Jeff) Broadfoot, Dianna Stephens, Keith (Margaret) Stephens, Lori Stephens, and Karol Stephens; grandchildren: Kristin (Jarred) Brodie, Matthew (Missy) Broadfoot, Nathan (Katie) Broadfoot, and Jenny Broadfoot; great-grandchildren: Max Broadfoot, Hazel Broadfoot, Easton Brodie, Cobie Broadfoot, and one great-granddaughter on the way; sister-in-law Audrey Fritz as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

 

Visitation will be at The Friendly Open Bible Community Church, 14297 St. Rd. 246 Coal City, Indiana 47427, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Services will be at the church at 11:00 AM with Jeff Fritz and Pastor Tom Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, in Bowling Green, Indiana.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seedline International 2747 US Hwy. 40 Brazil, Indiana 47834. Envelopes will be available at the church.
