Steven Lee Seymour, affectionately known as Steve, passed away on May 14, 2023, in Centerpoint, Indiana. Born on September 2, 1963, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Steve was a strong willed, friendly, and adventurous man.

 

Steve graduated from Clay City High School in 1981 and went on to work as a diesel mechanic for many years. In his younger days, he worked as a truck driver for his father and later in life for Fischer Farms. Steve was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his profession, always going above and beyond to ensure the job was done right.

 

A man of many interests, Steve was a fisherman and mushroom hunter. He often shared stories of his involvement in the Victorio Peak Project out west, captivating his friends and family with tales of adventure and excitement.

 

Steve's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in their accomplishments. Steve also loved watching the wildlife at his home, finding peace and solace in the beauty of nature.

 

A true friend to many, Steve was always there to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. Steve spent a lot of time in his shop where he never met a stranger, as long as there was good conversation and cold beer.

 

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Seymour and Martha Kay (Latham) Seymour.

 

Steve is survived by his three children, Kari Bowman (Chris), Kyle Seymour, and Alex Seymour, two grandchildren, Rhett and Brooklyn Bowman, two brothers, Brad and Brett Seymour as well as many extended family members and close friends.

 

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 20th from 11-1 at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East 8th Street in Clay City.

 

In memory of Steven Lee Seymour, let us celebrate the life of a man who touched the lives of so many with his unforgettable stories, colorful humor, honesty, and his quick wit. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
