Ruby F. Grindstaff, age 97, of Linton

Ruby F. Grindstaff, age 97, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 1:55 A.M. on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.  

She was born in Greene County on September 22, 1923, the daughter of Everett & Mary (Hill) Knowles.  

Youngest of ten children, Ruby was the only one of the ten children to graduate high school.  She then graduated from Phoenix Beauty College.  She worked many years at NSWC Crane in electronics, retiring on September 30, 1977.

Ruby was an active member of the Linton First Baptist Church where she attended the BYKOTA Sunday School Class and served as the class President for over 20 years, along with numerous church boards.  She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star of Newberry (Past Matron) and the Greene Co. Hospital Auxiliary (Past President & Secretary).  

She is survived by three sons, Roger (Alvina) Lohr of Houston, TX, Carl Lohr of Bloomington, & Michael Lohr of Houston, TX, a daughter, Debora (Douglas) Williams of LaVernia, TX, two grandsons, Stephen (Melissa) Williams & Ryan (Tabetha) Williams, and three great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Allison, & Wyatt Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Carl E. Lohr on October 19, 1969, second husband, Donald L. Grindstaff on December 20, 1995, and her nine siblings.  

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, with Reverend David Tyra officiating.  

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made tot he Linton First Baptist Church, through the funeral home.

Sonja Kathleen Lucy, 72, of Brazil

Sonja Kathleen Lucy, 72, of Brazil,  Indiana,  passed away on July 28, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on August 21, 1948 and raised by John W. Harris and Edith Harris.

Sonja attended George Washington High School and attended the First United Methodist Church.

Sonja was a caregiver all of her life, caring for her children, grandchildren, and loved ones at Crestwood Healthcare as a CNA/QNA. She enjoyed fishing, camping, having bonfires, and family gatherings. Family was everything to her.

She was preceded in death by parents.

Survivors include her son; Tom Hamilton (Michelle Drotz), daughter; Julia Daniels, and special companion for several years; Melvin Breeden, grandchildren; Meghan Bryan, Morgan Hamilton, Tristan Daniels, McKenzie Daniels, Cheris Birge, Britni Stangle, great-grandchildren; Xavien, Rachel, Declan, Alex, Tre, Jaycee, and extended family.

Visitation will be held at French Funeral Home; 421 E. National Ave, Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 P.M.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. the First United Methodist Church; 201 N. Meridian Street Brazil, Indiana 47834. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.

Carrie Sue (Bray) Killen, 41, of Crawfordsville

Carrie Sue (Bray) Killen, 41, of Crawfordsville passed away at her residence with her husband by her side.

Carrie was born in Greencastle on February 23, 1980, the daughter of Robert Lee and Louisa (Lewis) Chastain, and was a 1998 graduate of North Putnam High School. She earned her nursing degree from Indiana State University School of Nursing.

Carrie was a Registered Nurse and worked for Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville for 20 years. She also served as Deputy Coroner in Montgomery County for four years.

Survivors include her parents; her husband, Ian Killen, Crawfordsville; three children, Taylor, Gavin, and Corbin Bray of Crawfordsville; three step-children, Matthew and Michael Blackman, and Oliver Killen, all of the UK; a brother, Bobby Chastain, Lafayette; two sisters, Melissa Chastain, Medora, and Carla Rosselot, Muncie; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hobart and Harriet Chastain, and Arlando and Naomi (Lewis) Barker.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of service Tuesday.

A cremation will take place at a later date with burial to follow in Bainbridge Cemetery.
