Dennis G. Liechty, 66, of Henderson, NV, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Hutson Woods in Brazil, IN.

He was born on February 21, 1955, in Brazil, IN, the son of Donn and Mary (Hubbell) Liechty. Dennis attended Clay City High School where he graduated in 1973 as valedictorian of his class and went on to attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. There he was a member of ROTC and earned a degree in mechanical engineering, graduating in 1977. His Army career lasted 5 ½ years, spending the majority of his time at Schofield Barracks, HI, and Ft. Hood, TX. While in Hawaii, he met his wife of 39 years, Roberta. He continued serving in the Reserves and participating each summer in the Individual Ready Reserve for several more years and left the service with the rank of Major. Dennis then entered the world of manufacturing where he first worked for Michelin Tire and then switched over to the woodworking industry where he presided over furniture and cabinet manufacturing plants in several different states. In the last several years of his life, he turned to teaching, first at Ivy Tech and then at other community colleges in the field of manufacturing technology. All totaled, Dennis and his family lived in 12 states. Dennis had many hobbies, including hunting, woodworking, gardening, and reading. He was helping at his parents’ home in Clay City when he was taken ill.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Donn Liechty, and his brother, Doug Liechty.

Survivors include his mother, Mary; his wife, Roberta; their two sons, Dennis Christopher (Debie) and Daniel Marc (Ashley); two grandchildren, Rainer Browning and Dani Rose (with another granddaughter due in early September); sister-in-law Sarah “Sally” Liechty, nieces and nephews, Stephanie Liechty, Sabrina (Matt) Persinger, Derek J. Liechty (Shelby), and Donnovan Liechty along with two great nephews (Miles and Declan) and two great nieces (Selah and Sophie). He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony held at the United Methodist Church in Clay City, IN, on Saturday, August 21, from 1 to 3. A military salute will take place at 1 p.m. in the parking lot, preceding the ceremony.
