Mary E. Haffner

Mary E. Haffner, 70, of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, with her loving fiancé, Tony by her side.  She had also recently spent time with siblings before her passing.

Mary Beth, as she was known in her early years, was born Sept. 29, 1950, at Crawfordsville, to Don E. and Bettye Nell (Baker) Fouts.  She was the fourth of their six children.

She lived her childhood on the family farm in Montgomery County and in 1960 the family moved to New Richmond. Mary graduated from Coal Creek Central in 1969, and soon after married Ron Haffner of New Ross.

While living on their farm in Ladoga, Ron and Mary had two children whom they adored, Heather Lee and Trent Robert. Mary and Ron were later divorced. In 2001, Mary found true love and companionship with her long time friend, Tony Jeurissen, and later become engaged.

Mary was a member of the Church of Christ. She had a beautiful smile and a loving heart, along with a great sense of humor. In her younger years Mary enjoyed playing softball with friends. She was also a proud fan of the Indianapolis Colts. 

She thoroughly enjoyed watching her children and grandchild participate in sports and 4-H over the years. Mary’s most joyful moments were those spent with her loved ones, and her granddaughter, Marisa was her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her son, Trent Haffner; her parents; and sister Lucia Fouts Rundell.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Heather Lee Orapallo; son-in-law Robert Orapallo; and granddaughter Marisa Orapallo of Ocean City, New Jersey.

Mary is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Laughlin of Lafayette and Donna Campbell of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and two brothers, R. Lee Fouts of Searcy, Arkansas and R.B. (Sonny) Fouts of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

At Mary’s request, there will be no public memorial service. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
