Patty D. (Phillips) Carter, 54, formerly of Wingate and had been residing in Veedersburg, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, in I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette.

Patty was born June 3, 1967, at Somerset, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Luther D. Phillips of Attica and Elvie (Tucker) Holycross of Veedersburg. She was raised in Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1985. Patty formerly lived for several years in Wingate and just recently moved to Veedersburg.

Patty worked as a postal clerk for the Mellott Post Office.

Patty served as a co-Girl Scout leader for the Linden Girl Scout Troop # 2183. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and baking. Her greatest pastime was the time she spent with her family and traveling with family on vacations.

She was formerly married to Joe Carter.

She leaves behind her daughter, Lillyann “Lilly” Kaydence Carter, Wingate; her parents, Luther D. Phillips and Elvie (Tucker) Holycross; two sisters, Penny (Kenny) Krout, Covington, and Marla (Jack) Tanner, Marshfield; brother Tim (Angela) Phillips, Lafayette; two step-sisters, Kathy (Justin) Kline, Oakwood, Illinois, and Ramona (Larry) Bartlett, Danville, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by step-mother JoAnn Phillips; step-father Ray Holycross; and niece Allyson Jordan.

Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Baptist Cemetery, west of Newtown.
