Josephine Marion Richey, age 83, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on October 22, 2021.

She was born April 19, 1938, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Curtis J Eisman Sr. and Rosa (Masters) Eisman.

Josephine is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Carl William Richey Sr.; her five children: Jody Winko (Gary), Rosalie Dabelow (Marvin), Arlene Gavin, Carl W. Richey Jr. (Anna), and Louella Richey Brown (Marc); her 11 grandchildren: Christopher, Barry, and Nicholas Winko, Holly and Daniel Jaeger, Emily and Michael Gavin, Justin, Matthew, and Andrew Cobb, and Joey Brown; along with her 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Blanche Campbell, Curtis J. Eisman II (Lilly), June Davis, Betty Lou Wright (Sam), David Eisman, and nieces and nephews.

Josephine was known for her beautiful poetry. She was a published poet and majored in creative writing at Indiana State University. She enjoyed jewelry making, baking, and caring for her family. During her adult life, she served as a school crossing guard, preschool teacher, and assisted the city directory work.

She was a member of the International Society of Poets and Union Christian Church of Terre Haute.

Josephine is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Helen Lykens, Rosalie Powell, Cora J. Germain, Ruth Ann Jones, and Norman L. Eisman.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, from 10 am-12 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Memorial service will begin at 12 pm with Pastor Ric May officiating, and a Chapel Committal service to follow.

Josephine will be laid to rest in the Chapel of Memories at Roselawn Memorial Park.
