C. Raymond Mikels

June 15, 1934-Nov. 3, 2021

C. Raymond Mikels, 87, of Crawfordsville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021. 

He was born June 15, 1934, in Montgomery County, to the late Clifford and Odessa Mable (Tinder) Mikels. He was the youngest of six children. 

Raymond was a 1952 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He served in the Unites States Marine Corps from 1952-1956. He was honorably discharged.  On Dec. 27, 1958, at Crawfordsville, he married his loving wife, Mary Hellen Nickle. They celebrated 62 years together in 2020.

Raymond worked for and retired from the US Postal Service. He loved extremely hot coffee, hiking, talking with old friends, hunting, reading, shooting, riding motorcycles and playing with his grandchildren. Raymond will always be remembered for his quiet demeanor filled with kindness, love and patience.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, Brian (Kem) Mikels of Wetumpka, Alabama, Dan (Dawn) Mikels of Lafayette and Roger (Andrea) Mikels of Westfield, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved very much and was proud of each one.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Creasy Springs for their loving care and support. A celebration of life will be held on a later date. Sanders Priebe Funeral Care entrusted with care.
