Ira Thomas ‘Tommy’ Hutchens

Ira Thomas “Tommy” Hutchens, 93, of Marshall passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at his residence.
Born June 13, 1928, at Thorntown, he was the son of Lester Hutchens and Helen June Hankins Hutchens. Tommy married Rosemary Roberts on April 24, 1947. She preceded him in death July 7, 2010.
Tommy graduated from Marshall High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the Mariposa. He worked in partnership with his father-in-law as a poultry farmer and then he retired from Olin in Covington. He attended Marshall Federated Church.
Tommy is survived by two sons, Mike (Martha Ann) Hutchens of Marshall and David (Pam) Hutchens of Mecca; four grandchildren, Adam Hutchens, Amber King, Christy Guoli and Jennifer Spence; four great-grandchildren, Lettie King, Zachary Hutchens, Gavin Spence and Taylor Norris; and great-great-granddaughter Paifee Rosemary Norris.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Rosemary; brother Jack Hutchens; and great-grandson Thomas David.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, Dec. 22 at the Marshall Federated Church, 105 N. Main St., Marshall, with Pastor Brian Holt officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Burial will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery, north of Marshall. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes and Rice Funeral Home of Rockville.
