James William Brush

James William Brush, 80 of Brazil, passed away January 16, 2022, at 6:40am at his home following a battle with cancer. He was born October 5, 1941, in Brazil, the son of James Noval and Willetta Louise Brush. He graduated from Brazil High School in 1959.
In his first career, Jim worked as a typesetter for the Terre Haute Tribune Star. He later went to Yellow Freight where he was a dock supervisor for 10 years. In 1987 he started a bar and pool hall in Brazil on Depot St. and called it “Jim-Bill’s”. He ran the bar until 1997. During those years he promoted pool tournaments, including 8/9 Ball Pool. Jim also began doing repair of pool cues for patrons and friends. He was a member of the Brazil Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, having a garden, mushroom hunting and he liked country music. At one time, he played guitar in a country band locally. He was also a huge Colts fan.
On January 10, 1990, he married Ruth Kutch Brush, she survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Brush; children, Steve Brush and wife Carol of N.C., Kim Duncan and husband Donnie, Beth McGinty (Terry Higgenbothan) all of Brazil, Jimmy Brush of Terre Haute, step-daughter Robin Kutch of Plainfield; grandchildren, KC Dukes (Eric), Darci Rich (Ryan), Mercedes Brush, Sierra Brush (Dirk Thomas), D.J. Duncan (Brittany), Derek Duncan (Taylor), Hannah Cesinger (Blake), Caleb McGinty (Alexa Tillman); great-grandchildren, Hunter, Grayson, Max, Jameson, Makayla, Aubree, Makenzie, and Kyanna.
Services will be held Friday, January 21, 2022, at 1:00pm at the Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Tim Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11-1. Post a note of condolence at www.frenchfuneralhome.com
