Patty Shepherd

June 24, 1951 - February 16, 2022

Patricia Ann Shepherd, 70 of Brazil, passed away February 16, 2022, at 11:55 am at Terre Haute Regional Hospital following a brief illness. She was born June 24, 1951, in Brazil, the daughter of Ralph Leroy Morris and Larue Law Morris. She graduated from Van Buren High School, Class of 1968. She continued her education at Western Kentucky University for two years, and then transferred to Indiana State University. She graduated with a Degree in Education. She later achieved a master’s degree in Mathematics.

On October 20, 1973, Patty was united in marriage to George Russell Shepherd. Together they raised their family in Clay County. They were members of Ebenezer Church and attended the First Christian Church.

Patty was a long-time member of Job’s Daughters and the Order of the Eastern Star. She played the organ for services at Eastern Star for many years.

Patty and George believed in being lifetime learners. Together they have enjoyed traveling, cruises, scuba diving, flying single engine aircraft and catering events. Patty also enjoyed, sewing, scrap booking, reading, gardening, ceramics, and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Mike Morris.

Survivors include their children, Dr. John Charles Shepherd, DVM, (fiancé Chastity), Ryan Jay Shepherd (Mandy), Rachel Lee Spudes (Cam); grandchildren, Dylan (Kaitlyn), Laney, Jarad, Isabella, River, Slade (Callie), Zane, Chloe; great-grandson Londo; sister-in-law, Paula Morris; two nephews, Chip Morris (Sarah) and Michael Morris.

Services will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Mark Grayless officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-12. If friends so desire, donations may be made to their charity of choice.
