Earl Eugene Ephlin

Earl Eugene Ephlin died peacefully on Feb. 10, 2022. He was 94 years old.

Earl was a good husband/father and was a gentle, caring, and friendly soul, with a high sense of personal responsibility, and devoted friends. He was born Oct. 22, 1927, at Kingman, a small town in west central Indiana. 

Earl served proudly in the US Army in the Panama Canal Zone in 1946 and 1947, and later graduated from Purdue University in 1951. Earl worked for the Equitable Life Assurance Society for 34 years, with administrative leadership roles in their Des Moines, Grand Rapids, Miami, Baltimore, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Columbus offices. In 1985, Earl and Martha retired to Venice Florida, where they lived in Jacaranda West, and later, Aston Gardens.

Earl’s wife of 65 years, Martha B. Zwerner (who he married in 1956), passed away shortly after him on Feb. 12, 2022.

He is survived by his sons, Bob of Aspen, Colorado and Roger of Columbus, Ohio, as well as nieces and nephews Sandra, Greg, Monica, Denny and Debbie. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Edgar E. Ephlin; his mother, Hallie B. Keller; his brother, John; his sisters, Irene, Doris and Virginia; and nephew Michael.
