Margaret Mary "Peggy" Perigo

Margaret Mary Rittman Perigo passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022. She was born on August 1, 1930 to Freda Harnagle Rittman and Robert A. Rittman in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the youngest of five children.

Margaret was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School. As a student, she was a talented piano and organ player and was often excused from her schoolwork to play for funerals in the church. She attended St. Patrick's Girls High School, graduating 3rd in her class in 1948. After high school, Margaret worked as a legal secretary for local attorney, Samuel Beecher, Jr.

Margaret married Joseph Wesley Perigo on Thanksgiving Day, 1950.

Margaret was a talented seamstress. Her family was always well-dressed in her lovely creations as well as her beautiful contributions to many local brides, bridesmaids, high school homecoming courts, including the queen's capes at North, South, and Schulte, and cheerleader uniforms. She had many patrons and returning customers who benefitted from her amazing skill with a needle. She loved to crochet and left a legacy of beautifully constructed table clothes, afghans, and many other pieces, She also loved to cook, specializing in cakes, pies, breads, and pastries.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George Rittman, Robert Rittman; sisters, Marie Rittman Montgomery, and Francis Rittman. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years. She is survived by her children: Mary Margaret Schafer (Dan), JoAnne Fiscus (Bruce), Barbara Dreher (John), Joseph W. Perigo, Jr. (Kim), Wayne Perigo (Jennifer) of Indianapolis, and Richard Perigo. In addition, she was a proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and she was most recently blessed with a great-great-grandson.

Margaret's family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Elara Caring Hospice nurses and nurses aides for their unfailing help in making her final days as comfortable as possible.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 6 at Roselawn Funeral Home and from 11 a.m to 12 p.m. on Monday, March 7 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at noon on Monday, March 7 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Margaret will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park's Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
