David “Coopie” Leon Moody, 71, of Westfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on August 17, 2022.

Dave was born on January 9, 1951, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of George Moody and Helena (Mitchell) Moody. He graduated from Staunton High School with the class of 1970. He married Linda (McMillin) Moody on October 25, 1969. Dave worked in the grocery business for 38 years, including Standard Foods Lowell’s Grocery Stores and Page’s in Brazil. He moved to Westfield to be closer to his grandchildren at which time he started working with Aramark Food Services until his retirement in January 2016. After retirement, he worked at Menard’s in Westfield until the time of his passing. Dave was a people person and enjoyed his many years chatting with customers who always became friends.

Dave was a member of Cloverland Gospel Church for many years, until becoming a loyal member of Grace Chapel in Brazil in 1999. He witnessed for the Lord until his last breath.

Dave was an avid lifelong fan of Elvis Presley and the Minnesota Vikings; however, family was his true joy. He loved playing competitive backyard sports with his boys and their friends, but also enjoyed cheering on his kids and grandkids from the stands. He rarely missed the opportunity to be involved in his family’s activities, whether sports or dance. Dave also enjoyed golfing, bowling and poker games with the guys.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helena Moody and his sister, Patricia Moody.

Dave is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Moody; three sons, David (Lydia) Moody of Noblesville, Indiana; Darrin Moody of Brazil, Indiana; Dan Moody of Shelbyville, Indiana; and his daughter Darla (Jerad) Dalton of Carmel, Indiana; grandchildren Corynne, Josie, and Calvin Moody; Damon, Eden and Daven Moody; and Ava, Eli, and Lea Dalton, as well as his beloved grand-dogs George and Mac; 3 brothers: Jim (Marsha) Moody of Terre Haute; Joe (Maui) Moody of Brazil; Bobby (Chelsea) Moody of Terre Haute; 5 sisters: Peggy (Davey) Byrer of Poland; Connie (Caesar) Radar of Brazil; Anna Head of Brazil; Barbara (Kenny) Lowe of Gentryville, Indiana; Mendy (Paul) Carta of Brazil; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 4-8 PM. Services will be at the funeral home on Friday, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
