Phyllis L. Hine

Phyllis L. Hine passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis.

Phyllis was born May 16, 1937, to Walter and Helen Jack Hine.

She is survived by daughter Rita Hine, who lives in Indianapolis.

Phyllis graduated from Greene Township School in Parke County in 1955. After high school she started her working career with R.R. Donnelly Printing Company, where she worked for 50 years. She retired in April 2006. Phyllis also worked part-time as a caregiver for about three to four years around the Indianapolis area and part-time at Home Depot in the garden area and as a greeter in Indianapolis until March 2022.

Phyllis was a 10-year 4-H member in Parke County. She won several awards and trips. Phyllis also belonged to the Indiana Rainbow Girls organization with the Rockville Chapter and she also was selected as a grand officer in the 1950’s. She was also a member of Athens Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Crawfordsville. She also served as worthy matron in the 70’s.

Phyllis loved to garden and bake. She entered in the Marion County Fair and Indiana State Fair for several years and won several ribbons and awards on her baked goods.

In lieu of sending flowers, make donations to the American Heart Association.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12 at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, with visitation at 10 a.m.
