Millard F. Cates

Millard F. Cates, 98, of rural Veedersburg passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at his residence where he had lived since 1962.
Millard was born March 11, 1924, at Cates, the son of Robert M. and Bessie F. (Summers) Cates. He married Grace Elizabeth Bowman on May 23, 1944, at Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death June 22, 2012.
He also is preceded in death by his twin brother, Willard Cates; three sisters, Nixola Ervin, Belinda Kelch and Lestina Johnson; infant sister Berdinia Cates; son-in-law Hardy Keeling; grandson Raymond Cates; and granddaughter Twylia Hollis.
Surviving family includes: daughter Judy Keeling, Veedersburg; son Steve (Deb) Cates, Veedersburg; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Millard was a long time member of the Church of the Nazarene and more recently at the Veedersburg Church of God. He was a Golden Eagle Member of the NRA. He was employed for many years at General Motors in Tilton Illinois; retiring from there in 1988.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at the funeral home with Pastor Virgil Moss officiating. Burial will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
