Shawn Earl Battin
APRIL 29, 1971 – NOVEMBER 3, 2022
Shawn Earl Battin, 51, of Greencastle passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Putnam County Hospital.
Shawn was born in Brazil on April 29, 1971, the son of Thomas and Julie (Chew) Battin, and was a 1989 graduate of South Putnam High School.
Mr. Battin was a member of Boilermakers Union Local 39, and worked as a Union Welder for Buzzi Unicen for 27 years. He coached Travel Baseball for over 20 years, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing competitive softball for many years.
Survivors include his parents; his wife of 32 years, Angela Battin; four children, Justin Renner, Jordan Battin, Ryan Battin, (Stephanie Fougerousse), and Ayden Battin; two grandchildren, Jayden Battin, and Stella Battin; a sister, Kristi Short, (Tom), a brother, Brent Battin, (Julie); and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Betty Chew, and Ervin and Thelma Battin.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date in Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
