Lewis Fillmore Owens

NOVEMBER 10, 1949 – NOVEMBER 9, 2022

Lewis Fillmore Owens, 72 of Fillmore, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Born November 10, 1949 in Lexington, KY, the son of Fredrick and Helen (Sharp) Owens. He was a graduate of Milligan College and received his Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky.

Lewis was a safety inspector and taught flight safety with the Federal Aviation Administration for over 30 years. He had served as Rabbi of One New Man Congregation, Bloomington, IN, and received a lifetime award for his volunteer work with AAU for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lewis is survived by his wife Linda (Gress) Owens; children Lewis “Forrest” (wife Anna) Owens, Joy Owens (husband Kevin) Arauz, Matthew (wife Danielle) Owens, and Heather Owens; six grandchildren Olivia, Charlie, Jori, Margot, Lewis, Eleanor.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery. A time of fellowship will be held following services at the Putnamville Baptist Church, Putnamville, IN.
