Patty Cannoy

Patricia A. Cannoy, 56 of Kansas, IL, went home to be with the Lord, November 23, 2022, at 9:21 am at Union Hospital. She had complications from liver failure, which she had endured for many years.

She was born August 30, 1966, the daughter of George and Barbara Brown. She was raised in the Carbon area and graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1984. She went on to college and graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She also later studied at the University of Pittsburgh.

As a young lady, she worked at Toys R us, Joann Fabrics and CVS Pharmacy before she settled into her career spanning over thirty years helping the community with Area 7. She worked for West Central Indiana Economic Development District, agency for aging and disabled, which is now called Thrive West Central. She only recently retired due to her health. She worked tirelessly planning events at West Central. For many years, she planned the Area Day Picnic in Brazil. She also planned special outings to Branson, MO, and shopping day trips to Metamora and other locations at Christmas time.

On November 8, 2003, Patty was united in marriage to Jess A. Cannoy. They just celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. Patty and Jess moved to Kansas shortly after their marriage. They attended Kansas Christian Church. She loved her church family and enjoyed helping with activities. One of her favorites was dressing up, decorating their car, and participating in Trunk or Treat in the Fall for the area kids. She and Jess always liked going to the movies together for a date night treat.

Patty was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Phegley Brown, her father-in-law, Stephen Cannoy and her sister-in-law, Sue Patrick.

Survivors include her husband Jess Cannoy of Kansas, IL; her father, George Brown of Carbon, IN; her sister, Pam Brown (Brian Rissler) of Clinton; mother-in-law, Mary Cannoy of Mattoon; sisters in law, Rhonda Naples (Ron), Joella Higgens, Roberta Oakley, Florence VanHyfte (Mark); brother-in-law, Joe Patrick; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 11:00am at French Funeral Home with Pastor Bret Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Run Cemetery in Bridgeton. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm and again Tuesday one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to her church. Kansas Christian Church, 110 N.
