Cheryl Anne Holland

April 23, 1947 - November 30, 2022

Cheryl Anne Holland passed away peacefully at home in North Salem Indiana on November 30, 2022. Cheryl was born on April 23, 1947, in Versailles, Kentucky to Dawsie and Mildred Smith. When Cheryl was 2 years old, her family moved to Indianapolis.  She attended George Washington High School in 1965 and then worked at Allison Transmission from January 20, 1978, until she retired in 2004.  Cheryl married Timothy L. Holland and enjoyed 44 years of loving partnership and adventures. Cheryl and Tim are long-time residents of North Salem, Indiana, where they live right next to Cheryl’s oldest son and daughter.

Cheryl was an avid traveler – enjoying trips to South Africa, various European destinations, China, Thailand and many, many destinations in the United States with

Tim. They also spent time the last few years vacationing in St. Simon Island, Georgia and Englewood, Florida. Cheryl was a lover of the beach. She loved sitting under her palm tree with her husband and two doggies, Sugar and Lexi, passing the day with a good book in hand (Danielle Steel being her favorite)! She also loved to go shopping (Kohl’s was practically her second home), getting her nails done with her granddaughters, watching TV but ESPECIALLY QVC & HGTV, and spending countless hours scrolling on Instagram to later tell her family about what baby or dog video she saw that day.

If you knew Cheryl, you knew she was a fighter. Her family would always say that no pain was too much for her; her strength was unmatched. In 2008, Cheryl was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder.  She was given a 5% chance to live, and despite those meek odds, countless weeks in hospitals, dialysis and a kidney transplant Cheryl continued her fight.

In the last few years, Cheryl has battled against a tough cancer, causing her to lose her arm and needing to endure seven surgeries.  But she didn’t complain or take it as a setback, she just took it as another part of her fight. Cheryl will always be remembered for this strength amongst everything she endured.

She was the proudest of her family. Her love for her family was displayed with bookshelves and walls covered with pictures of her parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her calendar was always filled with birthdays, holidays, weddings, and everyday events with family. Nothing made her happier than time spent with the ones she loved.

Although she is gone, she has left behind her loving family — her children Sean (Vanassa) Dolder, Tabatha (Fred) Parker, CoCo Ross, and Corey (Katie) Dolder. She was a proud grandmother of Aaron Parker, Noah (Valerie) Parker, Eli Parker, Madison (Tom) Lowery, Marena Dolder, Liz (Grahm) Williams, Ethan Dolder, and Cray Dolder; and great-grandchildren, Flynn Michael Parker, Maxwell Clyde Parker, Samuel Frederick Parker, and Coco Joanne Lowery.  Also surviving are her sweet mother, Mildred Smith, devoted husband, Tim, loving sister, Susan Marsh, loving brother, David (Margaret) Smith; cousins, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition, she leaves behind her treasured friends, Mike and Nora Smith and Tom and Rosemary Nichols. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Dawsie Smith.

Family & friends are invited to gather from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m., on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory, 6 South California Street, in North Salem, Indiana. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in North Salem.
