Jackie Smith

Jacqueline “Jackie” Marie (Schepper) Smith, 81, passed away December 2, 2022 in Clay City. Jackie was born to the late Oscar and Helen (Cooprider) Schepper on November 26, 1941 at The Cooprider Homestead in Martz, Indiana.

Jackie graduated from Clay City High School. After high school she began working various jobs. While working at Wabash Fiber Box she met her husband, Harold Smith, who preceded her in death in 1988. She sold Avon products for over 30 years. Jackie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and two dogs, Yawny and Chico.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Jackie is survived by her three children, Kimmi (Putoff) Cooper (Steve), Harold “H.F.” Smith and his spouse, Kirk Smith (Jamie), grandchildren, Cory Deckard (Rusty), Steven Cooper (Jennifer), Kole Smith, Trevor Smith (Lindsey), Karlee Smith, great grandchildren, Kaleb Deckard (Jonica), Kody Deckard, Kendra Deckard, Raelynn Cooper, and Caden Cooper, siblings, Joellen Nicoson, John Schepper (Kim) and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 8th from 4-7 P.M. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East 8th Street in Clay City. A funeral service will begin at 7 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clay County Humane Society, 8280 N County Rd 125 W #7535, Brazil, IN 47834 in honor of her beloved companions, Yawny and Chico.
