Cleb Lee Boruff, 91, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away in his sleep, unexpectedly, on December 4, 2022.

 

Cleb was born on March 11, 1931, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Noah and Clara (Kidd) Boruff. Cleb graduated from Garfield High School with the class of 1949. He joined the Naval Reserves as a teenager. He served his country as a RADAR specialist on the USS Collett during the Korean war. After being honorably discharged from military duty in 1952, he began working for Public Service Indiana at the Wabash River Generating Station. He retired in 1990, after 38 years of service to the company.

 

When he wasn’t working, Cleb enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

 

Cleb was preceded in death by his parents Noah and Clara Boruff; a grandson Kirk Lybarger; a brother David Boruff; sisters Ethyl Cox and Bethel Steiner; and a son-in-law Earl Moody.

 

He is survived by his wife of 73 years Pattie (Smith) Boruff; daughters: Debra Lybarger (Gerald) of Dallas, TX, Carol Lutes (Tim) of Brazil, Indiana, and Linda Somheil (Eric) of Brazil, Indiana; grandchildren: Kyle Lybarger (Misty), Matt Lutes (Kelly), Kevin Lutes (Shannon), Doug Lutes (Kristy), Brian Moody Somheil (Carrie), David Somheil (Danica), and Eric Somheil (Mag); 20 great-grandchildren: Colton, Michael, Collin, Hayley, Jakson, Logan, Memphis, Alexandra, Parker, Claire, Evie, Jaiden, Monroe, Norah, Hannah, Maggie, Elise, Chase, Daphne, and Daisy; as well as various nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

 

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Services will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kris Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
