Mary Lucille Phillips

Mary Lucille (Killion) Phillips, 95, of Brazil, Indiana, went home to be with her Lord, while staying at the Commons of Honey Creek on December 9, 2022.

 

Mary was born on November 22, 1927, in Clay County, Indiana, the daughter of Raymond and Geneva (Banks) Killion. She graduated from Posey Township High School. Following high school, she graduated from Indiana State Teachers College with a degree in home economics with an art minor.

 

During college she worked for Pierce Orchard. She married Ernie Phillips in 1948 following his return from WWII. Mary attended Faith Outreach Family Church. She was a devout Christian and taught Bible Studies. She was a true Renaissance Woman. Over the years she helped her husband with his many building projects. She enjoyed needlework, quilting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, crewel, cross stitch and hooking rugs. She was talented at painting and weaving. She enjoyed singing, playing piano, gardening, and canning.

 

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Ernie Phillips; her son Paul Phillips; a step-brother Lawrence Mead, and a step-sister Helen Cooper.

 

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Phillips, a sister-in-law Betty Johnson, cousin Gary Reece, as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at noon. Visitation will be at the funeral home, on Saturday, from 11:00 AM until time of services. Burial will be held at Clearview Cemetery at a later time.

 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army in her memory.
