Cody Wayne Cown Sr.

JULY 15, 1989 – DECEMBER 12, 2022

Cody Wayne Cown Sr., age 33, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022.

He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 15, 1989 to Robert Wesley Cown Jr. and Andrea Claudel (Edwards) Anderson.

Cody was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, after he attended Shakamak High School. Cody was a correctional officer at the Vigo County Jail, direct support associate at Mosaic, and recently employed at the Applied Behavioral Center.

He is survived by his loving fiancée, Shanteal Walton; his 5 children: La'Miah, Cody Jr., Nasya, Ian, and Amaris; 3 siblings: Katie Wickware, Cameron Brookins, and James Cown; step-mother, Angel Cown; step-sister, Nikki Garwood; grandparents, Rebecca and Kevin Bowman; and his great-grandmother, Dorothy Dewey. He is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Cody was an avid fisherman and loved playing cards. His family was his everything, especially his children.

Cody was known as a gentle giant and often referred as Papa Cown at the Vigo County Jail. He was loved by so many.

He preceded in death by his parents and his grandpa, Robert Cown Sr.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 1- 3pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will begin at 3pm, with Jerome Potter officiating, and services will conclude at Roselawn Funeral Home.
