Delores Jean Wertz

DECEMBER 3, 1928 – DECEMBER 15, 2022

Delores Jean Wertz, 94, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Greenwood Meadows.

Delores was born in Roachdale on December 3, 1928, the daughter of Donald and Norma (Shoaf) Hyten, and was a 1946 graduate of Roachdale High School. She graduated from Central Business College in Indianapolis.

Mrs. Wertz was a former member of Southport Christian Church. She worked at the Indiana State Board of Accounts, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan Public Schools, and the Indiana Department of Corrections until her retirement in 1994.

Survivors include her son, Dave Wertz; a sister Joan Smith, Crawfordsville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and seven nieces and seven nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Susan Cozart; two brothers, Robert and Hugh Hyten; and two nephews, Ron Love and Joseph Hyten.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Brick Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.
