Richard A. Brown

Richard A. Brown, 96, of Lewis, Indiana passed away at Gibson Family Center of Hospice Care, on January 10, 2023 following a short illness.

Richard was born on December 4, 1926, in Centerpoint, Indiana, the son of Hovey and Ruth (Dressler) Brown. He graduated from Bowling Green High School with the class of 1945. Richard worked as a farmer and a truck driver. He retired at the age of 85.

He was a life-long member of the Oregon Baptist Church. There he served as deacon as well as several other capacities over his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hovey and Ruth Brown; wife Martha J. (Miller) Brown; his brothers James Brown, Ted Brown, and Elsworth Brown; twin sisters in infancy Angela Brown and Angeline Brown.

Survivors include his two sons and their spouses: David Brown (Robin) and Mark Brown (Pam); his daughter Beverly Tiefel (Jerry); grandchildren: Lindsay Brown, Luke Brown (Amanda), Heather Allen, Leslie Nickels (Nate), Meghan Bankert (Dustin), John Christopher Tiefel, Bryce Brown (Susan), Melissa Orman (Jason), Andy Brown (Leah); great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Emily, Hannah, Adelaide, Chance, Ava, Tyler, Chase, Lanie, Hunter, Oakley, Noah, Aaron, Logan, Landon, Payden, Jarrett, and Thatcher; a brother Rodney Brown (Carol) as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. Eighth Street Clay City, Indiana 47841 on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Brad Geary. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, Indiana.
