Loretta Truax

April 12, 1946 - January 15, 2023

Loretta Truax, 76, of Jamestown, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home, Sunday, January 15, 2023. She was born April 12, 1946, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Everett Lee and Lucy (Renner) Burdine.

After graduating from J. Everett Light Career Center in Indianapolis, Loretta went on to receive a degree in dietary management and worked for many years at Little Sisters of the Poor in Indianapolis.

Loretta attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Jamestown. She enjoyed cooking and loved her family.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Day and Jay (Susan) Green both of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Tiffany (Marcus) Griffin of Cicero, Misty Day of Washington, Zak Green of Lizton, and Amanda Green of Jamestown; several great-grandchildren; and brothers, Vernon “Cotton” (Flonnie) Burdine of Lebanon and William (Joyce) Burdine of Terre Haute.                

In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Rasool; sister, Roberta Cook; and brother, J.E. Burdine.

Funeral Services are planned for 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Porter and Hunt Funeral Home, 315 West Main Street, in Jamestown, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jamestown.
