Betty Jane Pitts

JULY 14, 1930 – JANUARY 31, 2023

Betty Jane Pitts, age 92, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. She was born on July 14, 1930 in Terre Haute to Frank Prouse and Hazel Kirkman Prouse.

She attended Concannon School.

Betty married Elmer Pitts November 7, 1947, and he preceded her in death August 7, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.

Surviving are her children, Bill Pitts and wife Norma, Kay Pitts, Susie Anderson, Scott Pitts and wife Lisa; her sister, Mary Norton and husband David; 9 grandchildren, Misty Inman and husband Matt, Kim Ford and husband Cameron, Bill Nicholson and wife Debbie, Trey Anderson and wife Betty, Tara Bach and husband Michael, Melissa Goodwin and husband Mitch, Scotty Pitts and wife Kolcie, Nick Pitts and wife Danielle, Carly Lowry; 12 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Betty enjoyed reading her Bible, traveling and shopping. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Betty will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Elmer at Bethesda Cemetery.
