Douglas David Atkinson

December 21, 1959  -  February 4, 2023

Douglas David Atkinson, 63, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at Compassas Hospice, in Indianapolis following a hard fought battle.

Doug was born on December 21, 1959, in Dearborn, Michigan the son of Edward T. and Shirley (Ridkey) Atkinson. He graduated from Allen Park High School with the class of 1978. Doug worked as a Sheet Metal Worker with Local 20 until he had to retire due to health issues.

Doug enjoyed bowling, golfing, spending time in his pool, grilling and smoking meat watching the Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan Football. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and being papaw.

He was preceded in death by his father Edward Atkinson; a sister Barbara Bray and sister-in-law Judy Atkinson.

Survivors include his mother Shirley Atkinson; wife Denise (Rowe) Atkinson whom he married on April 27, 2006; sons: Jason McMillin (Jessica) and Jordan McMillin; grandson Jaxson McMillin; siblings: Tom Atkinson, Wendy Nay (Dean), Gerald Atkinson (Deborah), Mary Taylor (Rob), and James Atkinson (Alicia); as well as many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Carbon Baptist Church 14100 North Murphy Road Carbon, Indiana 47837, on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will be at the church, on Friday, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Terry Wilson officiating. Burial will be held at Summit Lawn Cemetery with pastor Dick McShanog officiating.
