James William Burns

SEPTEMBER 15, 1928 – FEBRUARY 7, 2023

James William Burns, age 94, of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. He was born on September 15, 1928 in New Lebanon, Indiana to Jack and Sallie Burns.

James was a proud graduate of New Lebanon High School, and retired from Public Service Indiana (Duke Energy) after many years of devoted work.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 72 years, Helen Marie Burns; and a son, James Michael Burns.

Surviving are his sons, Dave Burns and wife Jerry of Brazil, and Paul Burns and wife Carolyn of Terre Haute; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

James was a devoted husband and father, always ensuring his family was well cared for and loved and he cherished the time he spent with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, golfing, and square dancing with Helen. James and Helen were inseparable, they enjoyed traveling, especially wintering in Florida and beachcombing hand-in-hand.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11 AM at Roselawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
