Bert C. Geswein, 87, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away on February 11, 2023 while staying at Westminster Village, in West Lafayette, Indiana.

 

Bert was born on December 17, 1935, in Benton County, Indiana the son of Clem and Helen (Schneider) Geswein. He graduated from Ambia High School with the class of 1953. He served his country with the Army National Guard. Bert took a Conservation Engineering position with the Soil Conservation Service and moved to Brazil where he met the love of his life, Myla Turner. They were married on May 30, 1958. After retiring from the Soil Conservation Service, Bert began Geswein Farm Real Estate where he focused on the sale of farm and recreation land.

 

Bert was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, the Camera Club, Knights of Columbus, United Way, Clay Community Schools Holding Corporation, and the Brazil Housing Authority. He was instrumental in forming the school farm tour that is still active today. He fought to build the Soil Conservation billboard, on I-70, that is currently being updated in his honor. Bert and Myla were always ready to help and there are countless many who were blessed by their presence.

 

Bert was preceded in death by his parents Clem and Helen Geswein; his wife of 47 years Myla Geswein; two brothers: Clete Geswein and Bob Geswein; and a sister JoAnn Nichols.

 

Survivors include his sons: Chuck Geswein and Jerry Geswein; a daughter Cindy Rodman (Mike); a niece Linda Minger; brothers Paul, Joe, Ed and Dave; grandchildren: Cayla, Hana, Owen, Grace, Adam, and Brooke; several great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

 

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church on Thursday at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annunciation Catholic Church St. Vincent DePaul fund at Annunciation Catholic Church 19 North Alabama St. Brazil, Indiana 47834.
