Richard Nussel

March 13, 1940  -  February 16, 2023

Richard Melvin Nussel, 82, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on February 16, 2023. Richard was born to the late Wilbert and Minnie (Johnson) Nussel on March 13, 1940 in Brazil.

Richard graduated from Staunton High School. After high school he went on to serve in the United States Air Force. After his time in the Air Force, Richard married his high school sweetheart, Lyla Nussel on June 23, 1962. Lyla preceded him in death on January 15, 2023. Richard worked as a fork truck driver at Allison Transmission and was a faithful UAW Union Steward.

Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, working with cars, and doing anything he could to put a smile on his wifes face.

Richard is survived by his two daughters, Sharri Schamihorn (Kerry), Amy Winn (Cody), grandchildren, Jacob (Madison), Heather, Tessa, Olivia, Zeb, Lyle and Teddi, great grandchildren, Jillian, Lyla, Shiloh, Greyson, and Richard Jacob, and two special nieces, Andrea Waymire-Minor and Kim Brown. Richard is also survived by his four-legged faithful companion, Charlie.

All services will be private.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
