James William Helms
DECEMBER 18, 1931 – FEBRUARY 19, 2023
James William Helms, age 91, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his residence.
He was born on December 18, 1931 in Clinton, Indiana to Milo Hubert Helms and Francis Elizabeth (Wimsett) Helms.
Jim was a graduate of Clinton High School, class of 1949. He was an electric lineman for the Public Service of Indiana for over 28 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Edna Helms; two children, Kenneth Helms (Marsha) and Donna Hoskins (Chip); 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-great grandchildren.
Jim was a Past Master of Jerusalem Lodge 99 of Clinton, IN. He was a 33rd Degree Mason of Indiana, a member of the Scottish Rite of Terre Haute, the Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, a Past Worthy Patron of 12 Points Eastern Star Chapter 528, and a member of The Eastern Star of West Terre Haute Chapter 428.
Jim enjoyed playing golf and watch sports. Most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steven "Randy" Helms; and his two sisters.
Visitation will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 11-1pm. Services will begin at 1pm, with Masonic Rites. A graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, where Jim will be laid to rest.
