Frostie Casto Hall

June 25, 1948  -  February 28, 2023

Frostie Casto Hall (formerly known as Karen Frost), 74 is delighted to now be with Jesus. She died peacefully at home on February 28, 2023 of cancer. She was born in Brazil, Indiana on June 25, 1948, the daughter Merel Leonard and Ethel Marie Frost. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1966, and then began her adventurous adult life by moving out West. Besides Indiana, she lived in Alaska, Utah, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Missouri and served two years as a missionary in Peru, South America.

Frostie loved people and made many friends wherever she went. She enjoyed many different jobs throughout her life, including being a nanny to a family with six children, managing a telephone answering service/security agency, working at several newspapers selling advertising ads and layout. She worked for many years at Edward Jones in Brazil with Toni Carter. But her passion was doing whatever Jesus wanted her to do. Anyone who met her soon knew her love for God. Indeed someone once described her as “addicted to Jesus.”

Frostie organized and led a large adult singles ministry for several years. At Victory Christian Center she met and married Herbert F. Hall and together they began street ministry to the young people who “cruised the Bash” on Saturday nights. It was called “Joshua’s Army” and they were out on Wabash Avenue in Terre Haute from 9:00 PM until midnight every Saturday night from spring until winter. Through the years Frostie taught evangelism classes to many church groups of many denominations. She wrote lessons for children’s church and taught for several years. The kids she taught inspired her to write a three-book series entitled, “Dread Champions of the King,” which was published and was required for reading for the Knights of the King Ministry of MorningStar Ministries in South Carolina. Then she and Herb traveled with their ministry team putting on Children’s and Teacher’s Training Conferences at churches. Finally at age 72 God gave Frostie the vision of Grandmas Ministries and she and Herb bought an old building in downtown Clay City, restored it to look like a grandma’s house and began a breakfast place totally run by volunteers where folks could come to experience the unconditional love and acceptance of Jesus Christ for physical, spiritual and emotional healing.

Frostie was preceded in death by her father and mother and step-son Cameron Hall. She is survived by her husband, Herbert F. Hall, her sister, Marlene (Richard) Ruble of Grapeland, Texas, step-sons, Curtis L. Hall of Lewis, and Carter (Amy) Hall of Shelburn, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, Uncle Dan (Joyce) Swartz of Brazil, Uncle Richard Hugh (Joan) Swartz of Longboat Key, Florida, nephews, nieces and cousins and many good friends.

Instead of a funeral, there will be a celebration of Frostie’s life at a later date. She requested there be praise and worship and funny stories told about her.
