Jerry Lee Cooksey

Jerry Lee Cooksey, Clay County. Jerry Cooksey died March 11, 2023, at the age of 73.

Jerry was born December 13, 1949, to the late Harry Everett and June (Bayer) Cooksey.

He graduated from Van Buren, Class of 1967. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and attended Harmony Community Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sherry Lawson.

Jerry was a man of faith and attended Berea Christian Church. He was a church treasurer and organized the weekly food pantry for many years. In his later years, he most enjoyed volunteering at the church, playing cards with friends, gardening and working outside.

Jerry’s family tree has many branches, and he always enjoyed the visits from the kids and grandkids, and the holiday family get-togethers. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Toni Cooksey (Maurer); his children, Tammy (Brent) Rollings, Castle Rock, CO; Christy (Chris) Mayfield, Brentwood, TN; Jana (Eric) Yeley, Fortville, IN; Nathan (Charrisse) Atkinson, Westfield, IN; Matt (Jen) Atkinson, Churchville, NY; Joe (Cairn) Atkinson, El Monte, CA; Sarah (George) Lawrence, Brazil, IN; Grandchildren – Heather, Kiri, Will, Wes, Lakoln, Clayton, Olivia, Ethan, Kylan, Jordan, Isabella, Rylee, Noah, Gracyn, Elijah, Maria, Shayla, Daniel, Aleah, Dennym, Carson and Kaelyn; Great-Grandchildren – Kinsley, Maddie, Alice, Zane and Saint Hendrix; a nephew and niece and extended family.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Croy’s Creek Cemetery.
