Edna Mae Smiley

NOVEMBER 13, 1925 – APRIL 8, 2023

Edna Mae Smiley, 97, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023.

Born November 13, 1925 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Homer and Martha Lucille (Abbott) Cook.

Edna was a homemaker and proud matriarch to 95 descendants. She was a member of the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer Ellis Smiley; brothers, Ernie Cook, Edwin Cook and Gene Cook; sister, Doris Smiley; daughter-in-law, Caroline Nanette Arbuckle; granddaughter, Celeta Harbin; and grandson, John Tharp.

Edna is survived by her children, Steve (Patty) Smiley, Linda (Rex) Snider, Ray (Kathy) Smiley, Danny Smiley (Susie), Sharon (Curt) Hoskins, Janice (Ken) Hamilton, Tim (Bert) Smiley, and Lora (Scott) Tharp; sisters, Edith Tarter and Mary Smith (Don); 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren: and 12 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 13th.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Edna to the American Cancer Society or the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Assn.
