Michael D. Rubeck, passed away on April 13, 2023, at the age of 65 in Poland, Indiana.

 

Mike was born on May 24, 1957, in Bloomington, Indiana. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. His untimely death was the result of a tragic UTV accident. Mike will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, quick wit, and friendly nature.

 

Mike graduated from Clay City High School in 1975 and went on to study engineering at IVY Tech University. He spent his career working at Crane Naval Base as a Satellite Technician and later at Crystal City in Arlington, VA. Throughout his professional life, Mike was always eager to learn new things and explore the world around him. His career offered him the opportunity to work with diverse groups of people, and he was known for his ability to connect with others and make friends easily.

 

In his personal life, Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing. He was always eager to share his love for the great outdoors with his family and friends. You could always find him in his shop where he enjoyed visiting with friends and having a drink and a snack. Mike's adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively, both within the United States and abroad. He cherished the opportunity to experience new cultures and create lasting memories with his loved ones.

 

Above all, Mike was a devoted family man who took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always made time for his family, no matter how busy he was with work or other commitments. Mike's grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he delighted in watching them grow and learn. His love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

 

Mike was a devoted member of the Zion United Church of Christ, in Poland where he attended his entire life. He was also a devoted member of the Clay Masonic Lodge #85 where he had served as Past Master.

 

As we remember Mike and celebrate his life, we are reminded of the many ways he touched the lives of those around him. His adventurous spirit, quick wit, and friendly nature will be missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Pauline (Mikolaitis) Rubeck; a brother Richard “Rick” Rubeck; and a sister Carol Jean Rubeck.

 

He is survived by his wife of 25 years Donna (Wigfield) Rubeck; daughters: Sarah Martin, Amanda Baumgartner, and Deana Bowersock (Matthew); grandchildren: Madalyn Martin, Ryne Baumgartner, Reese Baumgartner, and Tobias Bowersock; siblings: Randy Rubeck (Lorna), Kenny Rubeck (Mary), Brenda Cavell (Tony), and Nancy Telgemeyer (Tom); as well as many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Poland Zion United Church of Christ 3005 N Bowling Green Poland Rd, Poland, IN 47868, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Services will be held at the church at 3:00 PM with Rev. Norris Keirn officiating. Masonic services will follow in the church shelter.
