Ray Fry

Francis Ray Fry, 69, passed away May 13, 2023 at his home in Memphis, Indiana. Ray was born to the late George and Doris (Michael) Fry on August 5, 1953. Ray was a part of very large family including 12 brothers and sisters.

Ray graduated from Clay City High School in 1971. On August 11, 1979, Ray married Sandi Jackson. Together they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. Ray worked as a Corrections Officer for the State of Indiana for over 20 years until his retirement in 2003.

Ray loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who he was always very proud of. He loved sharing their achievements with anyone he talked to. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, listening to music, and was a very avid reader. He could often be found watching his grandchildren play sports and participate in the arts.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Barbara, John, Wayne, Dorothy, Dean, and Betty, two grandchildren, Brendan and Riley.

Ray is survived by his wife, Sandi Fry, two daughters, Jennifer Thomas (Michael) and Jessica Hatfield, grandchildren, Rebecca Hatfield, Baylor Noblitt, Camryn Thomas, Mason Thomas, Hayden Hatfield, and Liam Hatfield, siblings, James Fry (Ruthanne), Edna Thomas, Warren Fry (Carolyn), Patricia Hughes (Lawrance), Nancy Richey (Bill), and George Fry (Dawn). Ray is also survived by his sister-in-law, Alice Fry as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 4 P.M. on Thursday May 18th at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East 8th Street in Clay City. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until the time of service at 4 P.M. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
