Freddie Gene Wilson, 92, of Clay County, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, on June 8, 2023 of natural causes.

 

Fred was born on March 14, 1931, in Brazil, Indiana, the son of Raymond E. and Effie (Neal) Wilson. He graduated from VanBuren High School with the class of 1949. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Intelligence. Upon his return, he began taking classes at Indiana State University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Fred worked for IBM in Sherman, Texas and Greencastle, Indiana for most of his career. He also farmed for much of his life as well as served as the Clay County Recorder for a period of time.

 

He was a life-time member of Ebenezer Church. He enjoyed playing golf and has scored 2 holes-in-one at Oak Ridge Golf Course. In his younger years, he enjoyed flying his Cessna 172.

 

In addition to his parents Fred is preceded in death by his brother Herschel Wilson and a brother-in-law Everett Woll.

 

Surviving is his wife Lou Ann (Woll) Wilson whom he married on March 5, 1955; a daughter Darla Roeschlein (Mark); a son Jeffrey Ray Wilson (Debra); grandchildren: Danielle Wilson, Abbigail Wilson, Spencer Roeschlein, and Sierra Martin (Jesse); great-grandchildren: Luna Brighton, Phoebe Martin, and one on the way; a sister-in-law Leora Wilson and a sister-in-law Mary Woll.

 

No services have been planned at this time. French Funeral Home, in Brazil, has been entrusted with his cremation services.
