Billie Lee Potts Sr.

MARCH 24, 1937 – JUNE 16, 2023

Billie Lee Potts,Sr. age 86, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023. He was born on March 24, 1937 in Terre Haute to Herman A. Potts and Doris Valeta Kuhn Potts.

Billie served his country in the US Army. He was the owner and operator of Potts Tax Service.

He was the current Commander of AmVets Post 2, a Chef of 40 & 8, member of American Legion Post 346, member of Eagles Aerie 291, Marine Corps League, and the Berea Christian Church.

Billie was preceded in death by his parents; four children, Cathy Potts, Becky Tice, Carol Langley, and Mike Potts; two brothers, Butch Potts and Ronnie Potts.

Surviving are his wife, Lois A. Smith-Potts; his children, Cheryl Johnson and husband Robert, Billie Lee Potts, Jr. and wife Kimberly Judson-Potts, April Clark and husband Joe, Kimberly Gregory and husband Robert, Tere Dalton and husband Steve; a sister, Betty Parsley; a sister-in-law, Vickie Potts; 16 grandchildren, including Sibrina Potts whom he raised as a daughter; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 1 PM at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, with Pastor Kris Howell officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of services.

Billie will be remembered for his love of fishing with his best friend Duck, pheasant hunting, participating in community events including fish frys, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Billie enjoyed times with his friends Mike & Evelyn Davis.
