Stuart Jacob Bennett
June 14, 2004 - June 24, 2023
Stuart Jacob Bennett, 19, of Brazil, Indiana passed away Saturday June 24th, 2023, in Indianapolis, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Stu was preceded in death: by Grandparents Robert and Nancy Bennett, and uncle Joe Bennett.
He was survived by his parents Jake and Jill Bennett and brother Wyatt Bennett, grandparents Larry and Carol Koehler, Randy and Debbie Herbert, several aunts uncles, great aunts and uncles and many cousins, and a family of close friends.
Stu was one of three Valedictorians of the Class of 2022 at Northview High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Cross Country Team Captain, 4- time Cross Country State Qualifier, Cross Country Regional team champion, 4-time Cross Country team Sectional Champion, Western Indiana Conference Cross Country Individual Champion, Track and Field State Finalist in 4x800 relay, Northview High School record holder in the 4x 800 relay. Stu is currently 5th fastest all-time Cross Country runner in Northview History. He was a Northview High School Noble Knight award winner in Track and Cross Country and was a 2 sport 4-year letter winning athlete.
Stu was a member of the very special and close-knit Northview Class of 2022.
Stuart was currently enrolled at the University of Southern Indiana studying Mathematics.
All these accolades and great achievements are only a part of what a great human being Stu was. He was also a beloved grandson, nephew, cousin, brother, son, and friend.
Stu was a kind, considerate, compassionate, selfless, intelligent, understanding person.
His emotional intelligence was beyond his years. He was an advisor and confidant to any that needed it, soft spoken and confident in his words. Unconditional with his love. He was a loyal and trustworthy friend. He knew how you felt before you had to tell him.
He was funny and goofy with a smile and laugh that lit up rooms and those around him. He was always quick to help with any task. Stu was always willing to help friends with homework problems or just listen to their problems.
He was always ready to hold the door for you, carry the extra bag, carry the heaviest load, to cover your shift, to give you a ride, to give you an encouraging word.
He was a former lifeguard at the Forest Park Pool and youth sports referee at the YMCA.
He was currently working through the summer for Trout’s Professional Painting, and part time for Timing MD. Two jobs he really enjoyed.
He enjoyed playing basketball, especially at Babe Wheeler park. He liked gathering friends to get games going at the Y or the park. He loved playing cards and games and being with his close family. He loved spending time with his best friends and just hanging out. He loved music and movies. He really found joy in helping others. He loved playing video games and disc golf with his friends and brother. He enjoyed playing ultimate frisbee and swimming. He loved dogs and dogs loved him especially the family dog Yogi. He had plans to get a Husky one day. He loved watching and cheering on his little brother Wyatt at his little league baseball games, cross country and track meets and basketball games. Stuart was so happy and proud of being a big brother to Wyatt.
He was a caring and loving and a protector to those he loved and those that needed love.
He had a positive attitude and was a natural with kids.
He was pure heart and had a sweet soul.
He had amazing character, integrity and heart and expressed it.
He brightened people’s days, made people’s nights and changed peoples lives with his presence and words.
He was all these things and so much more to those that loved him and knew him and he made a lasting impact on so many in just 19 years with us.
Stuart truly believed that one person can make a difference and everyone should try.
Stuart was surrounded by unending support of family and friends during his final days on this earth. Stuart chose to be a registered organ donor when he received his drivers license and would be happy to know that he will be helping people’s lives with his gifts.
Stuart will be missed dearly by so many but never forgotten.
Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will be held at the funeral home, on Saturday, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark Mullinix officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
