Kenneth Dean Decker

Kenneth Dean Decker, 88, of Greencastle, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at Mill Pond Health Campus.
Kenneth was born in Lafayette on July 11, 1934, the son of Ernest and Gerta Stingley, and was a graduate of Jackson High School in Romney. After High School he went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Purdue University.
Mr. Decker proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Elks Club, Jaycees, United Way, Moose Lodge, and American Legion. He worked for many years as an industrial engineer, Kenneth had been employed with Jenn-Air, Texscan and P.R. Mallory’s, and he retired from Happico. After retirement he worked for Indiana State Penitentiary in Putnamville.
Survivors include his son, Dean Decker II, (Teresa); a daughter, Shannon L. Decker; a step-son, Lon Boyers, (Linda); a step-daughter, Jennifer Noll, (Kerry); a brother, Steve Stingley, (Rose); a sister, Louise Wiegand; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Ernest Stingley; his wife, Helen Decker; a daughter Kim Decker; a grand-daughter, Kelsey Boyers; three brothers, J.R. and Gary Stingley, and Ray Decker; and a sister, Linda Halter.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home.
