Sherri Clarke

March 30, 1963  -  July 22, 2023

Sherri Clarke, 60, of Bowling Green, Indiana passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with metastatic melanoma.

Sherri was born on March 30, 1963, to James and Carol (Nichols) Bussing of Center Point, Indiana. After graduating from Brazil High School in 1981, she went on to study cosmetology at Harrold Beauty Academy in Terre Haute, Indiana. Sherri was a gifted administrator and later went to work as the office manager at Bloomington Parks and Recreation and later as the Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief at Warner Press in Anderson, Indiana. Among her many hobbies, Sherri was a gifted dancer and gymnast during her high school years. She loved the outdoors, particularly the mountains, and enjoyed hiking and taking in all of God’s amazing creation. She loved reading, cooking, travel, crafting, conversations with her kids and her friends, and just relaxing with her husband.

Sherri met her soulmate, Marc, in September 1981 at a local festival where she always claimed he stole her car when, actually, he just stole her heart. From that night on, they became best friends and began dreaming of their future together. Marc and Sherri were married on September 9, 1989, in Anderson, Indiana, and spent the next ten years there. Sherri found her true calling in November of 1994 after the birth of their son, Dakota. She answered the call to be a stay-at-home mom and poured everything into her family. This calling became even more sure after the birth of their daughter, Hannah, in 1998. Sherri went on to homeschool both children all the way through high school. Years after the kids were grown and moved out of the house, they would share calls and texts several times throughout the day. Sherri was their confidant, #1 fan, and biggest cheerleader.

In August of 1999, God placed a calling on the family into full-time pastoral ministry where Sherri continued to pour herself into people. Her gift of hospitality was legendary and her cooking extraordinary. Through the years, Marc and Sherri took in numerous people to live in their home where she became the hands and feet of Jesus. She was a person of deep conviction, unlimited compassion, and faithful, fervent prayer.

For those who knew her, no words could capture the depth of her spirit. For those who didn’t, no words are sufficient to describe her.

Sherri was predeceased by her father, James Bussing in 2001. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Marc, and children Dakota and Hannah, both of Plainfield, Indiana. She is also survived by her mother, Carol Bussing of Brazil, Indiana, and brother Greg Bussing of Staunton, Indiana.

Visitation will be held at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Avenue in Brazil, Indiana on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 12 - 4 pm with a brief service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Franciscan Oncology Foundation at www.franciscanhealthfoundation.org
